Having visited Root Wells twice now it has solidified itself, in my opinion, as one of the best restaurants in Somerset Despite the small plates, each dish proved itself to be a little shining star cleverly designed by Root to include flavours that compliment each other. Although the restaurant itself is extremely modern, the service and atmosphere certainly didn't feel intimidating. Our server was beaming with smiles and laughter, and advised that the menu changes practically daily with the produce that is on offer. Each visit has been 10/10, I would highly recommend a visit in such a great location in the centre of Wells. I'll certainly be visiting again.

Brilliant, no more no less! When I saw the other reviews we knew we should go for it and it was worth every penny. I am a real meat lover but this time/ in this restaurant I missed nothing. Please do the same, just go for it...

Serving staff were excellent, full of fun and their knowledge of the menu and the produce was first rate. The food itself was top notch, special of mussels with sobrasada butter was genius. Great value for money as well. Can't speak highly enough of Root.

One of the best meals we have eaten in a long time! Every dish was unique and finished to a very high standard with nice sauces and textures! Cheese puffs, kolarabi ceviche and roasted cabbage where some of our favourites and the almond tart desert had my wife very excited for days! All in a lovely setting and service was top notch! Couldn't reccomendend highly enough when visiting wells!

Absolutely lovely meal here to celebrate a birthday. We had a number of small sharing plates and as a big meat eater this place really makes vegetables fun!!

I had dinner on Wednesday (22nd January), quite an early booking which was lovely so we could watch the restaurant slowly fill up and the atmosphere grow. From start to finish the experience was amazing. The food and the service were fantastic. The menu, although not much changed from my last visit, was incredible. I ordered almost every dish from the menu to share with my table and pretty much every dish was remarkable. To top off the experience, both of my servers remembered that I had booked the table for my mother’s birthday, and added a candle to a dessert. The whole experience was very special and I appreciate the care and attention we were shown by our two serves and the kitchen team.

Wow . Hands down the best food I've eaten in ages. Service was brilliant, everything was explained, and the fact the food (sharing plates) comes out when it's ready wasnt a problem (not that it should have been one). The variety on the menu, how it looked on the plates, the flavours .... When walking home I felt sorry for those eating elsewhere in Wells. But then again...! Can't wait to go again.

Wheelchair accessible entrance and ground floor loo - not accessible but manageable for me as a ambulatory wheelchair user; plenty of room in the restaurant for a wheelchair or rollator. Small plates, vegetable focused and fabulous! Incredible and unusual combinations. A beetroot, pickled grape and walnut dish was a standout. Plenty of gluten free options. Great service - attentive but not overbearing. Heartily recommend!
